The DAO is back, but are your DMs safe?

The origin story of the DAO dates back to 2016, when members of the Ethereum community announced its genesis. To put it simply, it was an ambitious experiment in decentralised governance that was unfortunately cut short due to an elaborate exploit.

Ten years later, we are witnessing the resurrection of the project as a “security-based grant-making organisation”, and the initial 75,000 ETH will be used to support security initiatives long term.

The project will partially be governed by the Ethereum Trillion Dollar Security initiative, as well as Ethereum users who will have a significant say in funding allocation matters.

And as DAO makes its return, other famous digital spaces seem to be put into question, due to the rise of scamming and phishing attempts.

Discord has long been a popular choice for users and developers alike to share and exchange information on various DeFi projects. However, Optimism and Morpho have recently decided to set their Discord chats to read-only. Moreover, the Founder of DeFiLlama highlighted that it is understandable, as it's becoming almost impossible to prevent scammers from DMing users the moment they ask for support.

Despite this being a legitimate concern, Discord has always been DeFi Saver's primary hub for community and support-related topics. We’ve already taken all possible measures to fend off bots, but still keep in mind our team will never DM you first, or ask for any compromising information.

Our support guy Miloš also gave a few additional remarks on the topic:

“The number one most reliable way to stay safe on our Discord is straightforward - never leave the server for assistance. Every member of the DeFi Saver team will only communicate with users via our public channels or via a private support ticket, which is just a channel on our Discord server.

Pretty much all scammers have and will try to lead you away from our Discord - be that via an invite to a shady website, a different Discord server, or trying to DM you.

An additional indicator that you're dealing with a scammer is if their username is not green. The only users with green usernames are the ones from the DeFi Saver team - so even if someone is trying to impersonate a team member you spoke to, you'll notice it if the username is in white.

And above all else - please never share your seed phrase. There isn't a single aspect of our app that would require us to know your seed phrase in order to help you.

That said, we put a lot of effort into keeping our Discord safe. There's a plethora of filters in place that remove scam messages as soon as they arrive in the channel, and we have certain rules in the background that prevent suspicious users from even interacting with our channel”.

DeFi Saver news&updates

For DFS, January marked the start of a major partnership, as well as some DFS updates driven directly by your feedback.

We’ve always believed in the human touch in DeFi, whether it’s through Discord or meeting us in person at upcoming conferences; your input is truly what shapes the app itself.

Now, without further ado, here are the latest updates.

Summer.Fi x DeFi Saver Partnership

As the Summer.Fi team shifts their attention to Lazy Summer, we are proud they chose us to support Summer.Fi Pro users moving forward.

With that being said, we’d like to note that starting 12 February 2026, the Summer.Fi Pro interface will switch to read-only mode. But do not fret, all your positions are already accessible within DeFi Saver and will appear automatically upon connecting your wallet.

Please also note that, if you currently have Summer.Fi Automation set up, you must migrate to DFS Automation to maintain active protection of your positions.

We understand that this change might feel like a lot to handle at once, but we’re here to support you every step of the way. You can find more detailed info in our announcement blog post, or contact our support team via Discord for any questions, clarification, or help managing your positions.

Welcome to the DeFi Saver community! We’re thrilled to have you on board.

DFS now supports claiming GUNI vault assets

Sky (formerly Maker) has officially liquidated all Arrakis GUNI vaults. Though Sky Governance waived all liquidation penalties to ensure users weren’t unfairly penalised during the process, we realised this presented a headache to some of our users.

Which is exactly why we enabled claiming collateral via DFS, directly through the Sky dashboard, in one simple tx.

Please refer to our X thread above for a simple step-by-step guide on how to go about claiming and unwrapping your tokens.

DFS on the road: Denver and Hong Kong

What better way to start 2026 off than with builders, investors, and projects coming together under the same vision and values of the DeFi movement?

That’s why DeFi Saver is heading to ETHDenver (17-22 February) and Consensus Hong Kong (10-12 February), almost simultaneously.

At ETHDenver, our team will be stationed at our DFS booth, where you can come and hang out, chat about the DFS improvements we’ve made since the last Denver conference (and trust us, there’s a lot to cover), or about DeFi in general. And of course, we’ll be giving out custom-made DFS merch, specially made for this occasion, so make sure not to miss us!

And if you aren’t heading to the mountains, no worries, cause you can catch us in Hong Kong. Nataša and Nebojša will be more than happy to meet up for a chat, so feel free to reach out (And yes, we’ve relaxed the hiring criteria: we no longer exclusively hire Nikolas, just a name starting with N will do).

See you there!

DeFi Saver stats

Over the past few days, we’ve seen a whopping $5B liquidation wave hit the crypto community. Bitcoin fell below $76.000 for the first time since its 2025 ATH, and ETH plunged to $2.200, well below the $4.950 mark from August.

And it’s been busy for us as well. In just 48 hours, DeFi Saver had 1227 automated adjustments, with 467 unique positions automatically protected.

From the beginning of the year up until now, DeFi Saver had 14.419 executed manual transactions in total, with 2.529 automated ones. Aave v3 remained as the most popular choice automation-wise, with Arbitrum leading in terms of preferred networks: Arbitrum (1336 automated txs), Mainnet (577), Base (383), and Optimism (233).

Community shoutouts

Each and every time our community was met with harsh market conditions, our support guys have truly done their utmost to aid users through every possible mishap. And yes, often even on the weekends.

But your comments and feedback are what keep us going. They serve as a compass, helping us identify exactly where we can improve and how we can better protect your interests.

And since it's high time our support team got a dedicated shoutout, in the upcoming posts, we will make sure to introduce the faces behind the tickets, sharing their stories and some behind-the-scenes effort that goes into keeping everything running smoothly.

Thank you for being a part of the DeFi Saver community, and see you soon in the next post.👋

Stay safe out there!
